Overview

Emerging and experienced writers delight in analyzing Dr. Seuss Sound Writing strategies and creating their own rhyming poetry in this free arts integration learning activity. You and your students will start by unpacking the writing strategies Dr. Seuss used to create his classic book One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. After you discover how this classic author used a rhythmic rhyming pattern to craft his book, you’ll use these same writing techniques to create your own classroom poems and books. Discover how student poetry writing brings to life science, social studies, and other  topics throughout the curriculum. Just follow the downloadable lesson plan below!
