Introduction to Arts Integrated Teaching for teachers & parents
Arts integration teaches science standards in a whole new way. Children learn on five different levels: they learn through viewing stunning time-lapsed nature footage; through moving their bodies as they listen to music; through drawing pictures to demonstrate their understanding of science; through retelling their understanding in their own words; and through performing the butterfly life cycle. In this Introduction, producer Marcia Daft provides an overview of the differences between traditional instruction and arts-integrated teaching, providing the context for the scaffolded series of lessons in Chapters 1, 2, 3, and 4.
