learn moreAll early childhood teachers are familiar with the “Clean Up” chant and know how useful it is for helping students listen to and follow directions. Imagine how helpful it would be if educators could create their own chants to teach classroom procedures and transitions. And imagine the power of inviting your students to contribute to the creation of these spoken poems! Join this Teaching the Music of Language arts integration professional development workshop for educators and discover how to compose engaging chants with movements that help children follow school day routines.
In this workshop you’ll learn how to write in musical meter so that your chants are rhythmically engaging and quickly grab student attention. You’ll discover where to place alliteration and rhyming words so that children instinctively sing along with you. And you’ll learn how to set movements to your chants so that all students can grasp the meaning of the words. Use these writing techniques with your children and transform your transitions into a joyful sing-along!
