Caterpillar to Butterfly: Adventures in Science, Music, and Dance DVD
$25.00
Description
With this award-winning video, children learn about the butterfly life cycle through nature observation, music, movement, drawing, and dramatic play. This arts integrated STEM program includes a series of progressive video lessons for PreK-2 students. First, students learn to listen and move with music. Second, students watch stunning nature footage to learn the life cycle of the Monarch butterfly. Third, students listen to music and physically move through the butterfly life cycle. Fourth, students learn to draw the sequence of events in the insect life cycle. In the final performance, children dance for an audience with music and nature footage as a background. Caterpillar to Butterfly won 2011 DVD of the Year from Creative Child Magazine and received two Silver Omni Awards for film and video. It also won endorsement from the National Science Teachers Association, the School Library Journal, Booklist, National Geographic Kids and more!
This video teaches science standards in a whole new way. Children learn on five different levels: they learn through viewing stunning time-lapsed nature footage; through moving their bodies as they listen to music; through drawing pictures to demonstrate their understanding of science; through retelling their understanding in their own words; and through performing the butterfly life cycle. Reach all your students when you present science through these learning modalities!
